Job Description

Working data-driven is very important for Product Management at mobile.de. To build a better, more flexible environment, we are currently transitioning from centralized data-teams to Data Mesh.

For our Data Mesh transition, we are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in data and product management to join our company as a Data Product Manager (d/f/m)

Together with the Data Transition Manager you will make Data Mesh the new standard at mobile.de. You will have the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of data mesh principles while leveraging your existing expertise in data and product management to support our teams in adopting and implementing data mesh practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-driven individual who is eager to learn and grow within the data mesh domain.


Your role will be 

  • Squad Level Data Mesh Adoption: You collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers (PMs), data engineers, and data scientists, to organise and drive the transition to data mesh principles and practices within different teams

  • Smart Products: You support the implementation of Smart Products by identifying opportunities, developing roadmaps in collaboration with Product Managers (PMs) and supporting the teams with the delivery

  • Product Management Support: You assist Product Managers in developing their own data roadmap, ensuring that data is integrated seamlessly into product development processes.

  • Requirements Gathering: You work closely with PMs and teams to identify their data-related requirements, helping them define key metrics, data needs, and analytics requirements to support their product development and decision-making processes.

  • Upskilling: Supporting upskilling programs at scale aimed to enable the product and engineering teams to take over ownership of their data

  • Data Governance Alignment: You drive the understanding of the data governance standards in the Squads and consult the teams, Squads and central teams about the set-up of ownership and quality processes.

Your skill profile

  • Strong background in product management, including experience in defining product strategies, conducting market research, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Solid understanding of data management principles and best practices, with experience in data governance, data quality, and data integration. Experience with Data Mesh is a plus.

  • Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and influence stakeholders at various levels of the organisation.

  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on translating business requirements into actionable data strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, fostering knowledge sharing and learning.

  • Proactive and self-driven, with a strong desire to learn and grow within the data mesh domain.
